This prose poem was published in Ghost City Review, March 2023. As you might be able to tell, it’s a bit different from my typical prose poem. Usually, my prose poems tend to be surreal, absurdist, etc. This is probably more similar to my linear verse about my real life. Anyway, I came up with this prose poem during one of my generative workshops I was teaching. I like to respond to my own prompts lol. For this prompt I asked writers to write about a time they traveled somewhere, how did it make them feel? Did they feel at home, peculiar, isolated, etc.. I wrote about the last time I visited my parents’ hometown in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico with my brother and mom.
